Peak Bengaluru: Landlord's Fancy 'Offer' to Tenant Looks No Less Than an Official Letter
Peak Bengaluru: Landlord's way of offering 'flat' to tenant sums up city's quirkiness. Here what he said.

In Bengaluru, the process of landlords seeking out potential tenants takes on a demeanor that’s more official and formal than one might expect. It’s not just about having a well-kept credit score; it’s about going through a long list of qualifications, facing a gruelling interview, and then crossing your fingers, hoping to be chosen. This was the norm until an intriguing twist was added, when a Bengalurean shared a screenshot, showcasing a rental offer from a landlord that was more formal than most job offers.

A user on the micro-blogging platform ‘X’, @DimpledJalebi, shared a screenshot of a message from a prospective landlord that read, “Hi. It was a pleasure to meet both of you on that day. As I mentioned during our meeting, I’ve been personally meeting with those who have expressed their interest in the property. While I haven’t had the chance to meet everyone yet, I have formed a reasonable idea of who among them would best appreciate and maintain the premises. Among the shortlist, I would like to extend the first offer to both of you.” A collective “Wow!” that resonated with everyone who saw it.

The poster summed up the experience perfectly, stating, “#PeakBengaluru moment happened when we got selected after an apparent interview with the house owner.” They further added, echoing the sentiments of many, “This kind of validation and all I didn’t expect.”

While the post didn’t go viral, it stood out due to the remarkable way the offer was made. A user in the comment section remarked, “Surely this achievement is worth a lot,” and another simply exclaimed, “Wow!”

This isn’t the first time that Bengaluru has raised eyebrows with its quirky tales. Earlier, a Bengaluru tenant shared an extraordinary story about their landlord investing an astonishing $10,000 (Rs. 8 lakhs) in their start-up, causing a significant sensation across the internet.
