Captain Miller Review: Dhanush Is Exceptional In This Arun Matheswaran-directorial Drama
Dhanush has depicted a rowdy avatar and has fully moulded himself into his on-screen character.

The Sankranti week saw some major clashes at the box office in the South film industry. Mahesh Babu’s highly-anticipated film, Guntur Kaaram, clashed with Dhanush’s Captain Miller. Apart from that, Merry Christmas and HanuMan also hit theatres on the same day. There has been a lot of anticipation for Dhanush’s Captain Miller. The film has been directed by Arun Matheswaran. There has been a lot of positive buzz about the film since its release. Let’s look at the reviews of Captain Miller. The film has been receiving a great response from the audience. It revolves around the life of a young man who is looking for respect. The story is set in a pre-independence village in Tamil Nadu. The story also has a zamindar’s character, who is a slave to the Britishers, and keeps villagers under his control. Arun Matheswaran has divided the film’s story into five engaging chapters.

Dhanush’s character makes the decision to rather become a slave for the British than a Zamindar; as a result, he joins the British army. His villagers abandon him. The film shows scenes about certain sections of society who are not allowed into temples. The screenplay depicts discrimination effectively. Even though such scenes have already been shown before, the visuals and the music added a lot of depth and engagement to these scenes.

One negative part that is quite evident in the film is the use of weapons by common people. As the film is set in the pre-independence period, the common people were under the control of British rule. In the film, it has been shown that even the common people are able to use a lot of weapons. Apart from that, as the story is made into five episodes, it becomes a bit difficult for the masses to connect with the main plot of the storyline. It has also been seen that there are more action scenes than dialogues in the film.

In terms of performance, Dhanush has been an exception throughout the film. He has depicted a rowdy avatar and has fully moulded himself as the character. His emotions, abilities, and action sequences are receiving a great response from the masses.

Apart from Dhanush, the film also stars Priyanka Mohan, Shiva Rajkumar, Vinayakan, and Sundeep Kishan in important roles.
