Mahindra Thar: Five-Door Model Expected To Go On Sale Next Month
According to reports, Mahindra will launch the highly anticipated Thar five-door variant in India in February 2024.

Mahindra & Mahindra launched the new electric Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), the XUV400 Pro on January 11.

The renowned automotive manufacturing Corporation is currently working on the popular off-road SUV Thar into a five-door model specifically for the Indian market.

The five-door Thar will probably go on sale as early as February 2024, adding to the growing anticipation for the vehicle, as reported by HT.

The five-door version of the Thar is probably going to grow this fan base even more, considering the three-door model has been a company blockbuster. According to reports, the five-door version of the popular product will be longer than four metres and will sit between the Scorpio N and the flagship XUV 700. This means that the Thar five-door’s expected price will begin at Rs 14 lakh.

Previously, a spy shot of the Thar five-door dashboard revealed that the vehicle will have a brown interior theme instead of black like the regular version. Meanwhile, the cutout for the infotainment screen also appears larger for the five-door model, indicating a larger infotainment system. The rest of the layout, however, is the same for the three-door and five-door Thar models.

There will be minor cosmetic changes to the five-door Thar, including a redesigned front grille, new front and rear bumpers, a new alloy wheel design, and updated LED taillights with updated detailing despite their similar shape, according to other spy photos. A single-pane sunroof is also anticipated to be included in the Thar five-doors features list.

The three-door 4WD Thar and the five-door variant will have identical 2.0-liter mStallion turbocharged petrol and 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine options for their powertrains. Nevertheless, the 5-door version of these units might be offered in a different tune with higher outputs. A 4×4 drivetrain with a low-range transfer case for intermittent use will be standard equipment.

The Thar will remain a ladder frame chassis off-roader in its five-door form, serving as the foundation for the carmaker’s third-generation ladder frame chassis. The Scorpio N introduced the third-generation ladder frame chassis in 2022.

The Mahindra Scorpio N features MTV CL (Multi-tuned Valve – Concentric Land), Pentalink Rear Suspension with WATT Linkage and FDD (Frequency Dependent Damping), and Double Wishbone Front Suspension with Coil-over Shocks.

The higher-end models also have mechanical and brake locking differentials, as well as an electric shift-on-the-fly 4XPLOR 4×4 System with multiple terrain modes (sand, snow, gravel, and normal). It is expected that the five-door Thar will have similar off-road capabilities.
