Father Allegedly Beat 5-Yr-Old Daughter, Did Drugs as She Died, Then Chopped Off Her Corpse
Adam Montgomery, before chopping off his five-year-old daughter’s body, compressed it for days and kept it in several different places, including at the eatery where he worked.

New Hampshire resident Adam Montgomery beat his 5-year-old daughter Harmony to death and then took her decomposing, compressed corpse to the restaurant where he worked and kept it in the freezer and left it next to food, prosecutors told the court at his trial, according to a report by the New York Post.

They said that the 34-year-old spent months moving the girl’s body and hid it in various hiding places and threw it out “like yesterday’s trash”. Adam did not attend the trial. The prosecutors said that Adam stuffed his daughter’s body in a tote bag which he carried to the restaurant daily where he worked as a cook and washed dishes.

“The bag stood out to people, because he placed it in the freezer during his shifts. He brought it with him regularly to work and he stored it in a freezer where the company kept food, ingredients. People saw him bringing that in and out. They couldn’t have imagined what that bag contained,” the prosecutors were quoted as saying by the New York Post.

He also hid his daughter’s corpse in a friend’s car trunk, a cooler in his mother-in-law’s apartment building, a ceiling vent of a homeless shelter where he lived as well as an apartment freezer, before disposing of the body in an unknown location, they further added.

Harmony went missing in 2019 but police did not know that she had disappeared and started looking for her until two years later.

Adam beat Harmony in anger because she had bathroom accidents in their car and then grabbed a fast food meal and did drugs as he ignored her final cries. She died in pain in the backseat of his car and the girl’s body was never recovered. The child’s mother, Kayla Montgomery, said her husband would hit the child for having bathroom accidents.

Bathroom accidents could refer to involuntary passing of stool and urine which children face when they are very young.

Montgomery in 2022 pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, falsifying physical evidence, assault and witness tampering in his daughter’s death. He has previously denied killing his daughter. He faces up to life in prison if convicted.

In December 2019, Adam Montgomery allegedly struck his emaciated and bruised daughter multiple times after she had two bathroom accidents in the family car, which was their makeshift home after a recent eviction, according to Kayla’s account.

Following the assault, he proceeded to drive to a fast-food restaurant, where he ate a meal and consumed drugs, while Harmony, suffering and in pain, moaned in the backseat of the car.

Adam put the lifeless child’s body in a duffel bag and put it in the trunk and over the course of the next few months he took steps to make the corpse disappear. He bought a saw, blades and lime, and rented a moving truck.

Adam Montgomery’s lawyer told the court that he did not harm Harmony and placed the blame on his wife, Kayla, who is serving an 18-month sentence on a perjury conviction.

She is expected to testify against her husband. The defence attorney James Brook said he found a note in Kayla’s jail cell where she said she was willing to “betray” her husband in exchange for a plea deal which would grant her immunity from everything.
